I am a Methodist minister with thirty years’ experience of pastoral ministry. I have served the Church in the role of presbyter, superintendent, and Chair of District and I am also a qualified pastoral supervisor and spiritual director. I have always relished ‘one to one’ work with people around formation, pastoral care, supervision, spirituality, and vocational discernment. 

I enjoy preaching and leading worship, in ways that enable people to grow in faith and discipleship. I have a great passion for the Arts, particularly contemporary fiction, and poetry, but also film, theatre, and art in all its expressions. I am interested in the interface between the Arts and faith, as a means for ordinary people to experience spirituality and transcendence.

I am married to Jean, who is a qualified nurse, and is currently working for the Children’s Society as a practitioner supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people. We have two grown-up children Alex and Tyler, a cat called Poppy and two rabbits, Fudge and Timmy. 

I was delighted to be matched to a presbyter’s appointment in the Aire and Calder Circuit in September 2024 and to be given pastoral charge of four churches: Sandal, Walton, Crigglestone and Lakeside Creative Arts Centre at Newmillerdam. It also marks a return to a part of the world that Jean and I love, the county of Yorkshire, where we have lived and served before – most notably in the market town of Otley (2007-2014).
